Kappu Raghunathan
She is a proud Michigander for over 30 years. She runs her own financial services business, K Financial Solutions, and She is also a certified pelvic floor therapist. Life keeps Kappu busy, but she absolutely loves the variety. At the heart of it all, she is a devoted mom to two wonderful boys, and her love for cooking has always brought warmth and joy into their home.
Kappu also the founder and president of the Detroit Duchess Club, a women’s social group that’s now in its 10th year. It’s been such a fulfilling journey for Kappu building this dynamic community — a space where women connect, grow, and support one another. Through the Duchess Travel Diaries, she has helped create opportunities for women to explore new places together, and their events throughout the year focus on learning, empowerment, and giving back. They also participate in many local charity efforts around Detroit — something that’s close to Kappu’s heart.
One of Kappu’s biggest passions is preserving and celebrating her mother tongue, Tamil — widely regarded as the world’s oldest language. She has been actively involved with the Michigan Tamil Sangam for 30 years and has worked closely with the University of Michigan to help students studying Tamil earn school credits for their weekend classes. Promoting language and culture has always been a key part of her mission.
She has also had the honor of serving on the board and as secretary for the Council of Pacific Asian American Association for over 4 years, helping advocate for and support the vibrant Asian American community here in Michigan.
